Take it to the self scan station at the store and scan the barcode, the machine will tell you if and how much it has won. If it’s a scratch-off ticket, you scan the two dimensional barcode in the scratchoff area not the barcode on the back which is what the retailer scans on their terminal.

Shelley asks…
How do I cash my dad’s lottery ticket?
I live in GA. My dad told me check his Fantasy 5 lottery ticket… a month ago. I lost the ticket but found it just today and some of the numbers matched (I know if you have 2 that match you get a free ticket, 3 you get something so on). So how/where do I cash it? Can I still cash it?
reggie answers:
Take it to a convenience store and have the clerk run it through the scanner. He/she will tell you the amount of the prize for the match. If it’s over $599 in most states you’d have to go to the State Lottery Commission or whatever the Georgia counterpart is to cash it. If it’s less the store can cash it.
